this year’s FORGED IN INK convention was tons of fun. i got there bright and early friday, ready to work! i had several pieces to work on, which have now been posted(mom heart, biomech, and big ass zombie) so check those out.
while i was there, i won 1st place for best cover up, and mike hill won tattoo of the day for friday. i got to hang out with good friends, make new friends, and basically have a good time while still working my ass off as always.
i spoke with industry vet nick wiggins for awhile while i was there, and the man has changed my entire thought process as far as design goes. from now on, aside from portraits and incredibly symmetrical pieces, i will be freehanding all of my work. he taught me that in order to achieve truly accurate layout on the human form, freehanding is the only way to go. i am beyond sold. expect a lot more of it from here on out.
i didn’t know what to expect when i got there, but what i got was a great time. i willbe back again next year.
